iPhone minus the phone? Who’s in?

Ok, so walk with me here. Most of the cool parts of the iPhone have nothing to do with telephony. Between the phone, the ipod and internet communicator functionality, it’s really only the voice calls that require the GSM “phone” part (and even that is redundant where you’re in wi-fi coverage, assuming you can use iChat VOIP - and believe me, it’s coming).

So what if Apple released an iPod which was just like the iPhone, but without the GSM telephony components. Would you be in?

Discuss.
