ADSL - BT landline (not?) required
January 28th, 2006
Now, the frustrating thing about choosing an ADSL (broadband to some of you) provider is that they mostly insist you have a bt landline (minimum cost £11pcm). This is fine if you actually use your home phone for calls, but since most of us actually only use our mobiles, the connection is otherwise redundant.
Now, today is moving out day for me and I’ll be heading into a new flat without a connection, at least for a few weeks while we get it sorted out (pray for free neighbourly wifi). The thing is, i’m not in my old house and the telephone has been disconnected for about a week, yet i’m still using the internet!!
I think that you have to have a BT landline but I don’t think it has to be connected for calls. If anyone wants to give it a try and let the rest of us know that’d be ace.
